Sprint Speciales are great looking variants of the Giulietta that are only marginally more expensive than the more normal looking Sprint Veloce version. Their looks are inspired by the outlandish BAT cars and the Disco Volante, and this example is available on EBay with a starting bid of $35,000 and no reserve. All Sprint Speciales are equipped with the Veloce specification engine, which included higher compression, hotter cams, and twin Weber carburetors. The seller of this car is reassuringly nitpicky, and the car looks like a nice usable car on the whole.
These cars tend to rust, so it’s important to check to verify that this is solid throughout, and that if any body repairs have been performed, to ensure that they were done properly. The trim is difficult to find on these cars, so it’s good to see that it is complete on this example, right down to the bug deflector, which is a frequent casualty.
The interior is in good shape and appears to be largely correct, aside from the unfortunate steering wheel rim cover. It is easily fixed but may be there to cover a damaged steering wheel. The upholstery pattern and color scheme is correct and pretty cool.
The engine compartment is very clean and has the correct bits that can often go missing, including the cast airbox, air filter housing, and intake trunking. This example is about as nice as one would want to have and still be able to drive and enjoy the car.
